These are the fabrics for the hooded sweatshirt my daughter has just started making herself. I cut it out tonight ready for her to sew tomorrow. The white and red stripes with anchors is the main fabric for the body, red ribbing for the cuffs and waistband and red t-shirting to line the hood, so this may qualify for the Dogwood 52 Week challenge which this week is looking at new beginnings, although I have another idea for that. I did try to put a picture together with my daughter's red tartan coat and lace for @summerfield's tag challenge but it wasn't red enough for the Rainbow Challenge
Three good things:
1. My first attempt at a fly zip worked (on trousers), altering it as the pattern has a side zip.
2. May have a trouser pattern block that fits after this (need to try it again on something else)
3. Sorted out the email to the consultant that's concerning us - now to see if there's a response.
Thank you for looking and your amazing response to the paperclip family story. This week I want to try some of the other ideas I have seen (although this one was a last minute, my other idea didn't work). I prefer to look at your pictures rather than thank you individually below.
Looks like a photo I'd see in a sewing book- a very nice capture for new beginnings. You and your daughter sound like expert sewers with all the projects you do!
Love the way you put this all together, it sounds like a major production. Your daughter seems to have inherited your talent. I used to use wooden spools when I still used to sew, did not know the exist anymore. Your good things sound great ;-)
@ludwigsdiana@lindasees I suspect the cotton reel with the wooden spool came from one or other of the stashes I've been gifted - it just happened to be red, and out when I was grabbing the pile of fabric. They are all cardboard or plastic now.
what a great combination of reds. I love that you still have the wooden cotton reel here. Great to see that you are passing on your sewing skills to your daughter. I do hope she is happy with the results.
