The moth that flies by day

This is a cinnabar moth, a day flying moth, spotted on a long wander around the fields at the other end of town with my daughter. These moths also have the most amazing black and yellow striped caterpillars on ragwort.

Three good things from Friday:
1. Good walk out with my daughter around the fields
2. Glorious sunshine still
3. Found a new hooded sweatshirt for my daughter in Fat Face sale

Thank you for looking if you are. I'm so sorry for being behind and am going to give up on trying to catch up as that's just getting me further and further behind.
I have already seen that type of moth but I did not know any of this information. Thank you for sharing it.

@etienne there are a couple of day flying moths in similar colours. This one just has a stripe and one spot, the other has lots of spots - the six spot burnet

It’s a beauty with the black and vibrant red. Kind of has a Darth Vader look in that position.

Agree with Shutterbug @shutterbug49 about the Darth Vader look! And don't worry about not catching up, rather start with a clean slate and carry on from there.

@fbailey ragwort is the major foodstuff for about 30 insects - so rooting it out for horses isn't wonderful
