Hubby’s hiking adventure by shutterbug49

Hubby’s hiking adventure

My local (now meeting by zoom) photography club has decided that since we can’t do photo walks as a group that we should try miniatures at home this month. Last month we did still life. I have never done this before and welcome feedback so I can get it better.
It looks wonderful!

I presume you used PS for this? One day I just might look at photoshop!

It works v well, glad they're not real boulders to negotiate!

@maggiemae I use Superimposex. It cost $5 one time, no subscription, and FAR easier to learn.

Composite I assume? I’d like it even better with more dof in the rocks and sharper background rock. It’s a bit soft for my taste...just me of course

Rocks! I was impressed - love this!

@maggiemae Affinity Photo has a Mac version. I think it costs about $50, but is NOT subscription. I thInk it is probably as complex as Photoshop though with a high learning curve.

That looks amazing Debbie, well done.

Oh this is fun! You've done this very well, I think. Made me smile.
Thanks for your lovely words yesterday. They haven't made masks compulsory in shops here, but they are thinking of doing so. But will people comply? Don't know....... sending love to you and yours today across the ocean.

When I first looked at this I thought, wow, what a large boulder. Then I read your commentary. You did a great job! Fooled me!

It looks good for the first time you've done anything like this. Yes, I think you could crop it a little tighter and loose the fuzzy pink/beige rock in the foreground. My personal taste would be to show the top of the boulder- but that's really optional. Your husband's stance works fine with it being so tall he has to look at the top with binoculars. Good work!

@olivetreeann Thanks for the feedback.

I would love to know how to do this. We are looking for things for our camera club to do too as we have not met since February !

I love this and want to learn how to do this.

@jeanniec57 Some of the 365ers have found little toy people. Those work really well, but I didn’t have any. If you find them, you can take the photo with the toy where you want to get the light and shadow the way you want. I took photos of hubby and I doing things I could make adventurous. I turned the photos into masks in an app called SuperimposeX. Then I open a background and place the mask in the background. The hard thing about doing it this way is getting the light and shadows right. I’m still working on that part, but 365ers have been helpful.

@shutterbug49 Thank you! I know I have a few toys.... still learning this technique...it's not always as simple as set up a toy and start shooting... it's a challenge...but I like it. Thanks for your response!
