Nothing I enjoy watching more than track relays! When I taught elementary school back in the early 90's I had a youth track team (grades 4-6) and for the 10 years I had it, our relay teams only lost once! That was my favorite - those kids could do a hand off better than the high school kids did :) Your shot is happy memories
@milaniet - Wow, that is quite an accomplishment, one loss in 10 years. As a grandparent and I imagine parents too, it is frustrating to see or hear about coaches who don't go to practice and when they do they stand around and offer suggestions to only a few of the kids who are participating in their event. During this event we noticed a coach from a team positioned near the track away from the start offering encouragement to the runners as they went by. She even encouraged some runners from other teams. My high school didn't have a track team so I never participated in any track event so I have nothing to offer my granddaughter to improve her skills.
I guess I need to watch some YouTube videos. Thank you for the years your gave to your students. I am sure it made a difference in their lives!
@skipt07 Thanks for the feedback - While I had the track club (a one man operation plus some wonderful parents on the day of a meet) I watched LOTS of videos - and some were really quite helpful. Taught them how to triple jump in 2 weeks because so few kids knew how to do it - same with the shot put - built my own hurdles but had to rely on telling them - not demonstrating :) Fun days
