Stranger Number 010 - James

It's been a while since I've given my attention to my Strangers series. One of my new year resolutions is to do better with the stranger shots. So, here's the latest. I met James in Tombstone, AZ. He is one of the folks who entertain the visitors by working with the horse drawn stagecoaches. Appropriately we took this shot in one of the town's historic saloons.
Wonderful Portrait of James, he really looks the part Ron, love the focus point on the eye, detail and monochrome tones:)

Great portrait. Interesting expression on the guy. Love love Tombstone!! We were there with our camping group a year ago and spent most of a day there. After our group disbanded and headed home John and I went back and spent three more days. Also went over to Bisbee to tour the old mine. We'd go back to Tombstone anytime!

Super portrait. I agree with Peter, he really does look the part.

I think I saw him in The Magnificent Seven. His eyes look like he's expecting Denzel to walk into the saloon any minute. Yeah he oughta be scared

Good one. I so wish I'd take on this challenge but I am such a chicken. I'd be so far out of my comfort zone, I'd likely stroke out. But man, it'd be great to have pics like this in my collection.

@pcoulson Thanks so much Peter! He's quite used to having his picture taken, but I think the experience with me was a little different - I was barking out photographer instructions, "work with me, look over there, great, great!" It's not like the old instamatic days!

@aglennc I love Tombstone and Bisbee too, Anita. As fun as the place is during the day, it's even more interesting at night when you hang out in the saloons and get to know some of the locals. Lots of interesting characters.

@onewing Thanks Babs. Although he looks like a career cowboy he did inform me that he gave up a career of working as a paramedic. Then again, he did take part in the rodeo too. Interesting guy!

@joysfocus That's funny - thanks, Joy.

@lyndemc Hey, I'm way out of the comfort zone too, Denise. It's something I've had to really push myself to do. But I almost always get them to comply, and then it's a real feeling of accomplishment - especially when the shot works! You can do it!

@stray_shooter Believe it or not, the other day I sat watching people, imagining myself asking them if I could take their picture. That's a step in the right direction, THINKING about it. I'm surprised to read that this goal is out of your comfort zone — I pictured you a very gregarious guy. You probably really are, it's just the asking to take someone's picture that's challenging. You'll be the first to know if I actually manage to try this theme. (I did it once last year and was very happy with myself for being brave.)

@lyndemc That IS a start! You'd be surprised how accommodating people are. You are spot on about me - I'm reasonably gregarious, but asking to take someone's photo can be intimidating, so you just kind of close your eyes and take the plunge. I remember the stranger shot that you took last year - didn't you feel great after you got the image? With your talents I'm sure anyone would be honored. ;-)

@stray_shooter One of our favorites in Tombstone is the comedic shootout at the OK Corral.....

I love that you're doing this! I'd love to show you and Anita @aglennc a project I did under the auspices of a fund-raiser for the Art Gallery. It was the perfect icebreaker and I was only turned down a couple of times. There's a bit of a story to it, but I got my book that I'm quite happy with. Looking forward to seeing our circle again one day... Happy New Year!
