The effects of the southern winter storm have pretty much been been negated by warmer weather, but not before I caught this case of a pine tree coated by the freezing rain. Temperatures are plunging again tonight, but the rain/snow is supposed to hold off. All I might be able to get is frost.
While dangerous and destructive, ice like this is undeniably interesting, even beautiful. It's encased every needle and highlighted every feature of this pine. Nicely captured. I'm sure it was no easy feat to tromp around in search of an image.
Hey, thanks for the nod on the self-portrait. Made this girl smile.
@gilbertwood@Weezilou@aglennc@pcoulson@lyndemc Again, a mass response, which I dislike, but which must be done when the situation demands it. First, thank you for the comments, and second, yes, I am heading home tomorrow. Always good to go home!
@terryliv Thanks Terry. Beautiful but deadly to the trees it appears. Many of the pine trees, weighed down by the weight of the ice, simply fell over and never recovered. That resulted in power outages here and there. Not a good combination, cold and no power! We were lucky.
@panthora I would advise packing a sweater! You'll love it there. I'm following you in a couple of weeks (and crossing my fingers that spring is on the way).
@stray_shooter Oh, I am packing a lot more than a sweater!! I think I will be bundled up pretty nicely, and will be looking forward to returning to sunny San Diego!
