I was trying to capture the reflected sunlight on the water receding from the beach, but was pleasantly surprised to see the corona of orange above the setting sun. I'd say check it out on black, but almost all of the photos look better on black.
What I learned in taking this photo: A wide angle zoom can come in very handy. This area is very popular for taking lovey-dovey pre-wedding goo goo photos, and tonight was no exception. The zoom allowed me to zap those people right out of the frame.
Wow, that is a gorgeous sunset - love the trees on the right and the land mass(?) under/behind the setting sun too. They add another dimension. also like the gently rolling waves.. the colours in this super image are wonderfully saturated without becoming too cartoon-ish. wonderful image Ron, you achieved your goal....
Fantastic resulting image full of wonderful light and tones particularly like the inclusion of the water lapping on the beach and those silhouette's to the right, just has to be a Fav, Ron:)
@kurtl525 Thanks Kurtis. I guess I've locked myself into lessons learned. I don't always insert them, but figured if I can pass something along that taught me something, them maybe others can benefit too. Or sometimes it's handy for useless trivia, something I see to favor for some reason. Thanks for the comments!
@taffy Thanks Taffy. You may be closer than you realized about the movie set. Several films have been shot in this area. One of those is From Here to Eternity, the beach scene was shot a mile or so south of this particular spot.
