Unfortunately I missed the opportunity to witness the blue-blood moon this morning, but I had the pleasure of witnessing and capturing a very cool moonrise in the company of Louise and Ken (@Weezilou) on the evening of the same day. I couldn't decide which photo to use, so decided to post the various stages of the moonrise in sequence. The presence of the palm tree was a somewhat happy accident. The photos don't really depict the size and grandeur of the moon as it rose over the horizon. Perhaps the images that Louise and/or Ken got will better reflect that.
It was quite amazing that people would wander by oblivious to this event, but witnessing our cameras, they would then turn around and gawk in surprise at the large moon looming over south Orange County. One person did ask to purchase our photos. I gave her a card, directed her to 365 and let her know she could download the shots for free. Hope we didn't disappoint!
Impressive sequence Ron lots of Lunar detail on show super viewed on black, well add as Fav, not just because it was cloudy and raining in my part of the world in the evening, funny I could have got a shot in the late afternoon before the rain came:)
“Bad Moon Rising”, John Fogerty was born in Berkeley, he should have been with you and Louise last night! I love this sequential collage, it is fabulous!
Loved your commentary and I quite enjoyed your wonderful sequence! It was so beautiful, I captured somewhat the same, but won't be cropping closely...want to make that comparison of this SoCal moon rise, where the population in about a 10-mile radius is about the same as in all of Nova Scotia, to one of my images from up north! It was a wonderful evening and I'm delighted we were able to share it with you!
it is quite something to witness a moon rise. the first time i did, i almost wanted to get on my knees and pray. great collage and i still do want to get on my knees and pray! aces!
@k1w1 Thanks, Christine, and thanks for the song title suggestion. I actually considered that when I came up with my title. For some reason I considered it way too obvious, but I'll get something in the challenge as my love of music always seems to conjure up some song title. Congrats on the win, by the way!
@louannwarren Oh, how cool would it be to hang out with the real originator of the song? What a kick that would be! Interestingly the tune is one of those with one of the most commonly misinterpreted lyrics, "There's a bathroom on the right." I was reading somewhere that Fogarty actually would sing those words just for fun. Thanks as always for your fav and wonderful comments.
@summerfield Always enjoy your commentary. The highest praised I've received in quite some time! It really is something almost spiritual watching such an event. I'm glad you've had the pleasure of viewing and have an appreciation in the past.
@stray_shooterhttps://365project.org/Weezilou/album-excess/2018-01-31 I was so proud of Ken's efforts, too, last evening! I told him as much and he said he'd really been trying to put everything together that we've talked about. I'm about to post one of his for today with some of my post processing...I just like the image, and there were more. It should also be said how much Ken said he also enjoyed your company; you engineer-men speak the same language ; )
This is a wonderful sequence Ron! Sounds like a great evening with Louise and Ken! I was wondering if you were away travelling as I haven’t seen your photos but I have just noticed I am not following you? How did that happen? Fav and following!
@pamknowler I thought you didn't love me any more! ;) I don't know what happened. I had a somewhat extended absence and it seems I lost a few followers for some reason. Glad you're back! And I would have loved to have gone to that Safari Park with you ladies.
