Several weeks ago I ventured out on a photo shoot and forgot one small detail - my camera. Oops. Luckily I had my trusty iPhone with me, and judging by the results that it gave me, I just might have to make that mistake again. This is pretty much SOOC, the result coming from an app for the phone called Pro HDR X. Oddly enough the app allows the user to take advantage of HDR effects. My DSLR has some fierce competition!
Beautiful shot of the coast. Is this Laguna? Now that all the beaches are closed, you can’t get this close to the shore. Glad to see you back, hope all is well.
What a brilliant result it is to Ron, so many times HDR is much to colourful for me, this image is lovely with wonderful detail, colour and exposure, Fav:) btw I've just ordered the Sony 200-600mm FE 5.6-6.3 G OSS lens, its out of stock at the moment but ordered it ready for when the lockdown ends:)
Spectacular! I'm impressed with what iPhones can do -- my most recent city walk, I purposely left my camera at home and used my phone. I still prefer my camera, but couldn't complain about the resulting shots.
@redy4et Thank, Elizabeth. Yes, this is Laguna Beach, near the Montage. I do miss getting out to the beach to get some photos. Gotta live with what I have for now I guess. Given all of the noise, though, maybe the pressure will get things moving in a positive direction.
@pcoulson Thanks kindly for the fav, Peter. Now, though, let's talk about that awesome lens you'll be getting soon. I am truly envious. Guess I'll have to enjoy it vicariously through your future photos. Congrats!!
@domenicododaro Thanks, Dom. Yes, it's a little frightening how well some of these phones do. If they ever master the whole depth of field thing, those of us with DSLRs are doomed!
@taffy Thanks, Taffy. I'm with you - given the marginal loss in quality, it's often preferable to "forget" the DSLR.....or I guess I should say mirrorless. ;-)
@louannwarren I think that's pollution! ;-). Of course this was taken before we were all ordered into isolation. Oddly enough, with the stay at home order, L.A. was recently declared the world's cleanest city - really! Would be interesting to see what that scene looks like today. Hopefully I'll be able to find out soon.
