funny story about this bottle. there's a perfume shop near my apartment building called "pennywise" and i pass by it every time i walk down to the subway. i've been in this neighbourhood for a good 20 years since coming to canada, and today was the first time i've gone to check it out.
mr. karim, the owner, was a rather friendly person. i asked if he'd sell me a few empties. i explained it was for my photography project. he asked what camera i use. turned out mr. karim is a photography enthusiast and would like to learn more about using his canon 70D. to make a long story short, i ended up with five bottles loaned to me; i gave him my 365 address, first for him to check out my perfume bottle series, and, he could join 365 to learn more about photography, if he wanted to. i told him that everything i so far knew about photography i learned it here.
thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are truly and genuinely appreciated.
Love the feathers and pearls with it. Makes it very delicate :) Great story on how you've acquired a few more bottles for your project. I hope Mr. Karim visits the site and finds all the great information available here.
I'm late on this but I hope you had a Merry Christmas!
Beautifully dressed bottle, you have given it a softness. What a nice man to loan you the bottles, if he joins the site you will have to introduce him to us all. Are you feeling better? Weren't you unwell before the festive season?
Gorgeous...sort of a "Molting Sally Rand"! Well, I realize that latter image might not be the response you were looking for...but this really is quite pretty. And if Mr Karim comes by, "Hello! Welcome" and we look forward to seeing your project, too!
Another great perfume Vikki. Do you know much about perfume accents and notes?. I bought a chypre perfume called Armani in the early 80s and when I learned it was being stopped I bough 4bottles in 2000 when I flew out of Boston. It's virtually gone and I can't find a description of it , or know where to look for a similar scent. Any advice would be gratefully received.
@ceilidh - i just photograph perfume bottles so i hardly know anything about perfume, margaret. i'm sorry. but the perfume shop owner i spoke to yesterday, mr. karim, might know where you can get them if they are still available. i will be returning tomorrow the perfume bottles he loaned me so if you will kindly post a photo of your armani in one of your albums and tag me, i could show him and he might be able to help. at any rate, there's always e-bay. :-)
@summerfield Hi. We were matched up for the get pushed 127 challenge if you are doing it this week. I was looking through your photos and was thinking an action shot/speed/movement would be a good challenge. Great photos by the way. -Stacey
love the story. The feather is a nice touch of both modesty and sort of coquettishness at the same time. (p.s. I forgot to weigh in yesterday but you highlighted the two shots I was going to mention!)
This series has been really interesting and I think your set-ups look as professional and polished as something you'd see in a fashion magazine. A couple of them even had me wishing I could still wear perfume without sneezing my head off! Yes, the feathery tease here is perfect!
Love this one, and I think it was extremely kind and generous of Mr. Karim to loan you those perfume bottles. This one is really beautiful with the female form, and it almost feels as if she is getting undressed as the liquid disappears! The feathers and pearl are a very nice touch!
I'm late on this but I hope you had a Merry Christmas!
I love the choices you made for the setting for this one.
Very shapely body
