not myself today by summerfield

not myself today

this week the workforce observes mental health week. "not myself today" is a campaign developed to focus on helping companies and organizations achieve (1) better understanding of one's own mental health; (2) reducing stigma, and (3) fostering a safe, open and supportive work environment.

we watched a documentary film titled "THE BRIDGE", a documentary about the golden gate bridge in san francisco, california. The film was inspired by a 2003 article titled "Jumpers," written by Tad Friend for The New Yorker magazine. The film crew shot almost 10,000 hours of footage, recording 23 of the known 24 suicides off the bridge in 2004. - wikipedia.org

it's a film not for the faint of heart so i'm not putting a link here, but if you are interested in seeing it, it is on youtube.com.

i think i might have related in one of my posts earlier in my stint here on 365 about my friend who committed suicide by jumping on the subway track, so i do have an almost first-hand experience of how it feels when someone you value and respect takes his/her own life.

thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are greatly appreciated.

NOTE: these are the buttons i have saved over the years during the campaigns. today i actually was able to get "happy" and "calm". later at lunch there's a handicapped young man in our office who wanted the 'happy' button so i gave it to him. glad to have made someone happy with the happy button.
I believe it's a good thing the workforce (and notmyselftoday.ca) is helping make people aware of mental health issues.

What a great idea to have mental health week. There is so much unnecessary stigma associated with the disease. I love your image for the concept!!

Great idea for the puzzle/split to capture the idea of the observation.

I think 'not myself today' should be very useful in its aims of helping folk to understand issues surrounding mental health. I think I cannot watch the film but I do send you all my sympathy about your friend - that must have been a really difficult time. I've just put my own personal post on bipolar awareness day in UK: http://365project.org/quietpurplehaze/365/2016-10-04

Sounds like a good program- and helpful to get people to think more about someone else besides themselves. Nice processing too. As you know we are well acquainted with suicide in this house.
