toronto is bracing for a really extreme and fierce ice storm. posters all over my apartment building, urging us to save water in buckets and warning us that should there be a power failure in the area that there will be no heating, no water and no electricity. well, duh!
now, wait a minute! that means no internet! ack! nevertheless, i am charging all my camera batteries and my tablet and my laptops, my phone and my iPod for music. if there'll be no power, i sure can do some processing on my pse. if not, i can always read books, both digital and real books. i better give the fish a bath. :-)
i've saved water in bottles for brushing teeth and washing face. i have a bucketful of water for flushing the toilet. i have more bottles of water for washing dishes. and i have 5-1/2 cases of 24 bottles of drinking water that i just bought last weekend. i boiled half a dozen eggs. i have cookies for snacks and chocolate for dessert. i have fresh batteries in my flashlight.
as you can see, my girl scout training, going by the "be prepared" motto, i'm ready for any contingencies. but why it would happen on a weekend just isn't fair. hopefully all these preps are just practice and the ice storm will pass without wreaking much havoc to the people unlike some years back.
my one disadvantage? i would just have to stay in my apartment as there's no freaking way i will be coming and going the 22 storeys. i sure can take icescapes from the balcony, provided it's not icy.
so if i am awol the next two three days, it means i've been iced in.
I'm shocked to read about the possible ice storm! OMG I'd be SO DONE with all that!!! At least you're planning ahead, and your beautiful pail of flowers belies that it's still cold outside!
Oh my! I think the one thing missing is a nice bottle of wine to enjoy while you wait out the storm. It does seem late for a severe storm. I hope all goes well and I look forward to hearing how everything goes for you during this time.
I was reading this morning that you had a bad storm predicted for today. I do hope it is not as bad as predicted. I'm any event, it appears you are well prepared. I will definitely be thinking of you. I am glad that you have chocolate available.
Someone has a lovely bouquet. Hope your power stays up. We're supposed to have potentially severe weather tomorrow. Thunderstorms, wind, which are the forerunners to tornados. I can stand the first two but don't want to be in a tornado.
