where did august go? it's but almost finished and what have i got to show? i can't recall any sensible accomplishment i did this year, i almost feel useless.
this morning on the train, a man asked me for directions. it was easy enough as i know the address he showed me, about five buildings away from our office. only problem was he didn't speak a word of english except "thanks". he was from colombia, he said and he 'no habla ingles'. my brain wanted to switch to spanish, only i couldn't because brain was literally blank of spanish, but french and italian words came to mind! i felt so bad. i wanted to appeal to the train folks at large to find out if anyone spoke espagnol but i looked around and for once, half a carload of the train was more white than other nationalities. in the end, though, as he was anxious that he didn't miss the shuttle although i couldn't give him the exact direction, i was able to tell him "tres estaciones mas" as he was about to join the swarm of people in getting off the train.
maybe enroll in a spanish class before the year ends.
Isn’t it that way? August seems to mark the end of the year, more than December. Life “accountancy” can be merciless sometimes, but most of the time it’s our attitude, not reality.
Your vases are beautiful, Vikki. We are so hard on ourselves, expecting to do great things all the time and then disappointed when we don’t perform some sort of miracle. I agree with @domenicododaro’s wise words completely.
Wonderful words from Domenico @domenicododaro ! I can hardly believe summer is on the way out, and leaves here are beginning to turn!! With French and Italian under your belt, Spanish should come easily! Love the photo (light box?) The center vase is gorgeous!
Vikki!! You've been to Chicago, moved offices, been to the zoo and aquariu, taken some fabulous photos, met up with friends, family and brought sunshine to many people in real life and here on 365.
Those vases are sooooo pretty and you've inspired me to use my mum's vase, that we nearly lobbed out, that you admired a while back to take part in this challenge!
nice tres vases
