the ice cream cone by summerfield

the ice cream cone

on the ground below, the child asks his father if he can have a vanilla ice cream in a cone. the father pays for it, a few remaining coins jingling in his shorts pocket. the boy licks the scoop of soft ice cream, his fierce licking dangerously makes the ice cream wobble from its perch on the sugar waffle cone. the father tries to help the boy, showing him how to properly secure the cone in his hand. the boy insists he can handle it, but the father does not let go of the boy's hand. the boy tries to lick at the ice cream again, the father's hand holding the boy's hand holding the cone. as they walk back towards the building, the boy tries to move the cone to his other hand, at the same time licking at the ice cream again. the father's hand follows this movement but a slight jerk of one or the other's hand makes the scoop of ice cream fall off from the cone on to the concrete pavement, as they move out of the camera's frame.

i have been writing when i'm not doing office work. today there's more work, plus i had a doctor's call with a specialist which my family doctor has arranged because she's just too exhausted that whenever she had to prescribe anti-biotics to me, she couldn't prescribe penicillin. the interview lasted 45 minutes and in the process i remembered having been stung by a wasp and i woke up covered in rashes. that was about six or seven years ago. so now i have a new prescription for epi-pen which i would have to pick up at some point during the weekend. then next week there is another telephone consultation with the nurse who would conduct a penicillin test on me. why couldn't they just leave it alone, i have no idea.

after that, work started then a conference call. and then more work. when do i find time for my 365 and my writing? so at almost 11 i haven't had supper yet. is it possible i would die of starvation during the night? i don't think so. it's kind of hard to get rid of me, you know.

for the street challenge. also for the song title challenge. here's the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuFOyTUXKQ8

I was hanging on every word, know deep down the unavoidable outcome. Love the story - and the perspective.

You wrote that little story so well! I feel sad for the boy who lost his ice-cream, though...

What A superb photo for your fabulous story

I got tired reading about all that you have to go through in a day! I don’t know how you do it! I’m glad to hear you are riding though because that is definitely your calling and I want to encourage you to continue with that. I hope someday to have an original Summerfield on my bookshelf!

I hope you didnt end up going to bed with nothing to eat, You cant survive on looking at one small boy's fallen ice cream. Well thank you for the sacrifice, because I enjoyed both stories here and the freeze frame image.
