i'm posting early. it's howling winds and lots of rain and someone above me has something heavy in their balcony that's being rolled around by the wind. plus the lights are flickering so i better get this in before we lose power.
i think i did well with blending the sky, but i sucked at the horizon of the water although an unposted photo is something like that. in person it doesn't look so bad.
since i cannot draw a human, i followed a tutorial i once saw about using the fan brush to paint grasses. the unposted photograph has trees and a protruding dried branch which i tried to emulate but miserably failed, so i covered it with more leaves.
oh, and the mess on the right sky is due to the cheap canvas not being stretched properly. that's my story and i'm sticking to it.
note to self: do not cook and paint at the same time. i almost burned another pot. tee-hee!
I have one question, well two! Why are you so hard on yourself and two) how can you expect to turn out a perfect masterpiece at the start of your learning curve??
The composition is balanced, the left hand trees have lovely texture, the sky meets the sea in a realistic haze. AND it looks like your photos too.
Mind, you've seen my efforts, so I suggest you take an informed critique from others hahaha!!!
Fun to see the pics you had in mind, lovely result. I think the storm you are talking about has almost made it here. The winds just picked up. Hope you don't lose power.
This is very impressive! I feel you are doing well with blending and I love your grasses. The painting looks very much like your two photos that you used for inspiration. Well done
This is great! I like the colors and the textures you managed to put in. Oh and looking at your pictures think you did really well mixing the sky colors close to the sea.
This looks good- and its simplicity reminds me of the Primitive painters like Grandma Moses and her contemporaries. Ditto to all the "don't be so hard on yourself" comments! I like the colors, the composition and the over all feel. And don't feel everything has to be completely representational. You can work with more simplified figures with a background like this- try it!!
