invasive species

my sister gave me a cutting of the ivy in her living room. i noticed the other day that the plant has grown quite a lot from the little cutting and it has a habit of clinging to the wall, but i keep on pulling it away. then i realized today that this is the kind of invasive ivy that creeps on walls of buildings and if left by itself, the thing just devours the whole building. well, i'm having none of that. i may have to kill the thing but first i need to find a proper ivy for the window.

14 years on 365 and i still don't quite know how to do rim lighting. 🤣

the new camera's battery is charging and hopefully i can start using it tomorrow.
Looks like English Ivy. It is almost impossible to get rid of this when it starts. If it grows on a brick wall, the roots will damage the mortar holding the bricks together.

I love it, but yeah it's very invasive and fast!

Ivy clings!! Plant it outdoors, in a park, them everyone can share it.

I am now imagining an ivy filled room!

Looks so good on a black background. So invasive it needs to be outside.

Oh yes they are very invasive and may cause a lot of damage to walls . One I had one in my garden and it looked very pretty along the dividing wall between my garden and that of my neighbours until I started cutting it down.

I would think it would be safer inside than outside. At least you can control it inside! You’ve done a terrific job of photographing it here. Like you, I struggle with rim lighting.

I wasn’t sure what “time lighting” was exactly so I looked it up. I’ll have to try it.
