scones

but where's the clotted cream?!?

a friend who was also sick during the holidays came over this evening bearing scones. i mentioned that i used to have afternoon tea when i first came to canada, remnant of the things i got used to doing when i came here from oman, having rubbed elbows for three and a half years with brits.

the lady apologized that she couldn't find any place to get clotted cream but i said the absence of the clotted cream would be good for our arteries anyway so we contented ourselves with just butter. because my kettle died on me last week and i keep forgetting to get one (maybe amazon will deliver one to me asap), i had to heat the water in the microwave. what sacrilege! we enjoyed the hour-long chat and there's left over scones.
not what our scones look like but they do look delicious and with butter would be great :)

I don't think I've ever seen triangular scones before

I have never seen a triangular scone before either, at first glance I thought they were samosas! Trust they tasted good.

I am sure that a triangular scone tastes the same as a round one.

The scones look delicious. I like the elegant touches of the cloth napkins and the orchids. Do you not have a stove top where you could boil water? I agree that making tea using microwaved water isn't good.

I've only ever seen cheese scones as triangles. Fabulously composed, most elegant
