"Let me take you down,
'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about.
Strawberry Fields forever.
Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see.
It's getting hard to be someone but it all works out.
It doesn't matter much to me."
(Lennon, McCartney, from the album "Magical Mystery Tour", 1967)
This song, written by John Lennon, was inspired by Lennon's memories of playing in the garden of a Salvation Army house named "Strawberry Field" near his childhood home.
"Strawberry Fields Forever" was intended for the album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), as it was the first song recorded for it, but was instead released as a double A-side single with Paul McCartney's "Penny Lane". "Strawberry Fields Forever" reached number eight in the United States, with numerous critics describing it as one of The Beatles' best recordings. It is one of the defining works of the psychedelic rock genre and has been covered by many other artists. The song was later included in the US Magical Mystery Tour LP (but not on the British double extended play package of the same name).
The Strawberry Fields memorial in New York City's Central Park is named after the song.

busy at work today and there has been a steady drizzle all day in toronto. fall is upon us, there's no denying about it. it's been cooler and jackets are now de rigeur unless you want to be sick. and speaking of sick, with fall comes the flu season. so, eat a lot of vitamin c and strawberries contain a lot of vitamin c plus other vitamins and minerals. sorry, i'm blabbing now.
UPDATE: sorry, in my haste, i forgot to mention that it was a photo of a poster outside a grocery store. i was going to buy a pint of strawberries for my photo idea but i didn't have cash on me and the nearest bank was two blocks away. it was pissy raining and cold and damp, and yet i didn't want to use my bank card to pay for something that's only worth $5. then i saw this floor to ceiling poster just outside the grocery store: an enlarged photo of a pair of hands scooping strawberries. so i took a picture of the poster, zooming only on the strawberries. in fact, i got all kinds of reflections of the lights and nearby store signs. so in the 'paint' program, i cloned and patched the parts especially the sepal (the green leaf thingy in the middle right) which had a big rectangle of bluish ceiling light reflected on it. it looked crude but when i posted it, i was amazed that the patching/repair job was almost unnoticeable. so in essence, the picture i posted is mine because i used my camera to take a picture of the poster.
wonderful detail and focus in your photo. as others have mentioned, now i, too, am craving these! i have a patch of minis but never get any as the birds are quicker than i am so i end up at the fruit stand buying mine. love all the info you provide. i didn't even know there was a memorial in ny.
