'when i'm sixty-four' by the beatles

"When I get older losing my hair
Many years from now
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings, bottle of wine?"
(McCartney, Lennon, from the album "St. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, 1967)

Paul McCartney actually wrote this song when he was still 16, during their early "Cavern" days in Liverpool. The boys would sing this song when their amplifier broke down or when the electricity went off. It was speculated that McCartney may have thought of the song when recording began for Sgt. Pepper in December 1966 because his father turned 64 earlier that year. In an interview with John Lennon, he said, "I would never have dreamed of writing a song like that." (guess he was right!)

the only beatles song i could sing in its original key. the only mccartney song i could say i really like.

i took this photo the other day thinking i was on the letter 'w' already. i could perhaps have set it up again, but i'm yawning like a sailor who's had a pint or two, so i'm turning in and will catch up with you guys tomorrow.

is the song nagging inside your head yet? :-) good night!
Nice set-up and all surrounded by a beautiful frame! Yes, that song is "nagging inside my head!"

I totally love this song and it absolutely makes me giggle and laugh. I know somebody who had it has their recessional at their wedding -- !!!!!!! how cool is that? Great shot for this song!

good song choice for me to review today as Paul gets married for the third time today; he is, apparently, to pay tribute to Linda as part of the wedding (something wife #2 would not have tolerated!!!) which I think is great :-) this is a nice fun photograph to go with a fun song that has quite a poignant message
