"I'm in love for the first time
Don't you know it's gonna last
It's a love that lasts forever
It's a love that has no past."
(Lennon, from the album "The Beatles (Hey Jude)", 1969)
one of the beatles' most powerful love songs. it was written by john lennon as a plea to yoko ono.

the beatles do not have a song with the title that starts with the letter "v", so it's another wild card day.
i took this picture in 1984 with my old minolta slr when i was in belgium with him. in this picture, he was in his car driving. he was telling me he would miss me as he dropped me off at the train station because i wanted to stay in luxembourg for a while.
he is the one real love of my life. most of the characters i write in my fiction short stories were created with him in mind. i used to call him 'stoneface' because he had a cold facial expression, and i was the only one who could make him really smile. he would have been my mr. summerfield but life got in our way. and i should stop now lest the present "mr. summerfield" sees this and accuses me of not getting over this man.
but i must tell how we started: he asked me, during my lunch break, if i knew how to speak french and i said 'yes' rather haughtilly when i really didn't (i don't like it when anyone interferes with me and my food!). at that time, there was this dancy tune with a french title so i said "voulez-vous coucher avec moi?' at first he smiled then let out a wide grin, and asked "when?" and i continued with "ce soir". did i impress him? i must've have because he said "seven o' clock". so i phoned my sister, who at the time was working at the canadian embassy and studying french, to find out what that title of the song meant. and she said, "noooo, you didn't tell somebody that, did you?" turned out the title of the song as literally translated in english was: "do you want to sleep with me tonight?"
no wonder the stoneface smiled. in french it was an invitation to have sex! hahahaha! the next day, i enrolled at the école francais. i didn't sleep with him, but of course! but that's how we started to become friends and the rest is our history.
ah, sweet memories! :-)
(and yes, you can bet this is not going to get posted on facebook.)
@danig - hahahahaha! remember i have at least 20 years ahead of you, i'd have more stories to tell than you do. you'll be bored listening to me. well what will happen is you eat all the sushi while i kept blabbing, my friend. thank you, DG.
@jannkc - i hope you won't run out of w's today since you used most of it in that one sentence! :-) i love those deep eyes that pierced into my soul the very first time i saw him. and today, it's the letter 'w' for the beatles' songs, which one would it be? lots of good choices!
love this story, how you have processed the photo, your choice of song and the song you mention - clearly remember it and have it on reel-to-reel. oh, too funny that you quoted it without knowing what it meant!
Well, isn't that an interesting story with a great photo to match. Nice going Summerfield. I had French in college and can't remember a thing anymore. Love the romantic languages tho. Took Spanish too.
@catsmeowb - it was a lesson learned for me. the nice thing for him was, he said. i pronounced every word so perfectly he really thought i spoke french! and there i was just saying things i didn't have a clue what they were. now the song's in my head. :-) thank you, camille.
@karenann - i have a funny (and also embarrasing) story about spanish, too, but that would be for another time. thank you, karenann.
stone face maybe -- but those eyes tell another story! LOVE -- absolutely LOVE your story about how you met!! That will keep me chuckling all day! I just love it! SOunds like he was an interesting character -- esp if he was a possible Mr. Summerfield! Love that you shared this! And the effect of the photo is great -- and perfect for this song! You just keep outdoing yourself, every day!! Vous êtes une joie et un délice!
