"Joan was quizzical
Studied pataphysical science in the home.
Late nights all alone with a test tube.
Oh, oh, oh, oh.
Maxwell Edison, majoring in medicine,
Calls her on the phone.
'Can I take you out to the pictures,
Joa, oa, oa, oan?'
But as she's getting ready to go,
A knock comes on the door.
Bang! Bang! Maxwell's silver hammer..."
(McCartney, from the album "Abbey Road", 1969)
In a review of Abbey Road upon its release in 1969, Rolling Stone magazine observed that in "Maxwell's Silver Hammer", McCartney "celebrates the joys of being able to bash in the heads of anyone threatening to bring you down. He puts it across perfectly with the coyest imaginable choir-boy innocence". (source: wikipedia)

with four more days remaining in the month, let's finish it all off with more beatles songs. a nephew likes this song and laughs everytime he hears the refrain because he finds it really really funny. but that's the culture of the youth these days, the more violent the games, the more fun they are and the more enjoyment they bring. we harp at the rapsters for violence in the lyrics of their songs, when mccartney got away with this song back in the late 60's.
took a picture of my little hammer, over processed it in picnik then use the 'invert' process last. i thought i'd do something different for a change.
@summerfield I am nearing completion -- which is why I haven't posted pictures -- waiting to have it all done so I can do "before" with the "after" -- can't wait to starting showing off all my fun!!! Thanks for asking. I painted like a woman possessed over the weekend so I wasn't even on here -- and you noticed I was gone! That was nice! Nice to be missed.....!
Great shot my 16 yr daughter's favorite beatles song Its quite strange to hear them when they have a party they put this on and they all know the words.
that is one funny looking hammer! never seen anything like it. love your processing and also greatly enjoy this song. never knew anything about the back story.
@bkbinthecity - good for you. in youtube it now has more extensive videos of beatles songs. i wonder how they can do that what with apple's really strict copyright rules. thank you, bkb.
@danig - thank you, DG. it's one of those days when i'm in no mood to exert too much effort and i end up exerting more effort than usual.
@steeler - that's funny! it's probably the beat/tune that draws her and her friends in. but as long as they don't do what maxwell does in the song, it should be alright. thank you, howard.
@catsmeowb - i knew someone would comment on the hammer's physical look. it is actually a mini-hammer about 6 inches or so and it is also a plyer and has a knife, small pair of scissors, a really small star screwdriver and file thingy that folds inside its handle, kinda like a swiss knife. i've had this thing for years and never really opened it until now. i've only used it once or twice to fix my necklace's clasp. thank you, camille.
malcolm is a tool freak. i thought we would split up over his tool bills when he was working as a mechanic - he would come home and tell me what the tool man had given him that week so i knew he had spent a LOT OF MONEY because if the guy had given him something for free, it meant he had spent big bucks. and he had 4 accounts, one in each company. after all, one might have something better. then, the boys had better not touch his tools. and we always touched his tools. AAAWWWWW. we laughed really hard just a few months ago when josh was looking for lug nuts and mack came wandering from out back of his garage. josh asked him where they were and mack dug them out of the dirt in the driveway, but of course, not all of them were there. we were still laughing as we followed josh down the road on his way to the parts store to buy lug nuts and a new wrench , , ,
@catsmeowb - sounds familiar! i know of ONE person around here who does that. my sister when they came here, her husband wanted this tool and that tool he'd see on TV. would do one project and that's that. when they separated, i got most of the smaller tools (my sister paid for it all) and partner here took some, too. but when i ask to use them, he could never find them. so when partner needs tools, he'd come to my toolbox and heaven knows where they end up. are men really like that? maybe howard would read this and give us some insight. :-)
justin's tool box is worth more than $12,000 and is bigger than my dining room hutch. we had to use our big trailer to move it and then it made a hole in the floor. and that is without the tools. yes, men are like that. it also has a big sticker on it that says 'I make my living with my tools, do not ask to borrow them" and he means it. his locks, and his co-workers used to break into it if he was not there and he went mental over it, said he would use his tools to break their fingers. his boss said he was the only one with the right tool to do the job. lot of help there. he doesn't work there anymore.
@roth - sue, we were posting at the same time haha! you're just full of pun tonight, aren't you? funny lady you are. thank you.
@karenann - you're welcome. glad you like it.
@danig - thank you, DG. it's one of those days when i'm in no mood to exert too much effort and i end up exerting more effort than usual.
