"Rain hangs about the place, like a friendly ghost. if it's not coming down in delicate droplets, then it's in buckets; and if neither, it tends to lurk suspiciously in the atmosphere.” - Barbara Acton-Bond

a storm happened overnight, with lightning and thunder in tow. the forecast said it would be cloudy today, but i woke up and the sun was shining through the windows. i decided it's warm enough to jog and passed by the parkette; found a snail invasion on the walkways, and butterflies slaughtering the sweetness out of the lilacs. one landed on my head as i photograph this droplet. lucky shot? i think not.
this is sooc, except for the name tag, no cropping as it didn't need any.
i'm off from work today but doing some errands this morning. i'll catch up with everyone's albums in the afternoon. don't go away; i'll be right back.
love the light, the color, the composition, and if i close my eyes for just a moment and imagine - yes - i can almost, just almost, smell the lilacs. a glorious fragrance and a fav. so lovely. have a wonderful and restful day off from work!
@karenann - i always thought that early morning light is best for photographing little things like this. i have tons of photos that i can't discard because they're all pretty (to me at least). tomorrow, maybe sunrise or probably sunset. thank you, karenann.
@pandorasecho - aww, dixie, that's very nice of you. thank you.
@danig - and today it's so warm it's almost hot! no jackets required, even in the shade. tomorrow will be another story, perhaps. thank you, mate. i miss you.
@bkbinthecity - fought a lot of traffic because i forgot i'm the only one who's off and the rest of the work force are still working. otherwise, it was a good day. thank you, brian.
@summerfield Back late Monday will have some good haiku words for you! Spending some time with dearest friends, lots of laughter but always mixed with the sad because I miss them so much. Ahh such is the way of life.
The light and the colors are beautiful! I think it's a hopeful kind of capture. Very lovely. I hope you have a fantastic weekend. 8) PS. When I read "butterflies slaughtering..." I had a mental image of killer butterflies. Armed with butchering implements. Terrifying people everywhere. XD
@myautofocuslife@alia_801 - thank you, ladies. i think i should've used the word 'rape' as when i saw five butterflies in just one bunch of lilac buds, the narrative poem 'the rape of lucrece' came to mind. i think i might post that photo but i will wait until later as i'm going photo hunting and then i might have an entirely different post.
Beautiful poem and capture. Stunning light through the drop. I think the butterfly was trying to capture the same thing. You just happened to be its tripod. :)

@steeler - then you would need a great dessert afterwards! something along the lines of chocolate cake. thank you, howard.
@catsmeowb - thank you, camille. they're not in full bloom yet so there's no smell yet, otherwise, i'd be sneezing like heck or won't even go near it.
@sarasdadandmom - thank you, officer terry.
@danig - and today it's so warm it's almost hot! no jackets required, even in the shade. tomorrow will be another story, perhaps. thank you, mate. i miss you.
@sunnygreenwood - thank you, anne.
I had the same mental image as @myautofocuslife about the butterflies too :)
@sanera - thank you, sam. much appreciated.
