i've been planning to get a new camera with my tax refund. this afternoon, i have resolved, i should just bite it and get an entry level dSLR. what does my camera do when i went to the park? it takes this picture of a tiny tiny weed flower.
mind you, my canon fell hard three weeks ago; the fall was broken mid-way by a bush, but it still landed hard on the concrete and there's a big dent on one of the corners. however, since then it's been taking great macro shots.
the bad thing is that it doesn't focus well now when i use its landscape button. everything from two feet and beyond is just one big happy blur.
however, i decided that i won't switch yet to dSLR. i am seriously considering either of the canon SX40HS or the Nikon P510.
I love this gorgeous, tiny weed! Flower?!! It's a beauty ... and what about the girl that you have on tonight ....or was that taken before the fall? Whatever you decide, you'll do the right thing.
Very pretty! I've heard that there are big differences between the Nikon and Canon. They both take quality pictures but with a very different color balance.
I almost did the super-P&S 2 years ago. My husband talked me into saving a bit more and getting a DSLR. I would never go back. It is so fun being able to be in charge of what you get and learning so much about the camera. It also is fun getting new lenses- like getting a new camera. If its money issue, you should wait. If you just prefer the P&S I really liked the Nikon.
@karenann - the photo of the girl was taken up close, i was just behind her. she knew i was taking pics. but if i try to focus on the building my camera would just blur everything, nor can i use the zoom. dithering. dithering. maybe i'll just buy a nice pair of boots for the fall! :-) thank you, karenann.
@olivetreeann - nikon takes better colour, from what i see in my p&s. canon is easier to use than nikon, p&s-wise. thank you, ann,
@alia_801 - i like your thinking! thank you, alia.
awesome shot, vikki! i responded to your p510 questions on my swallowtail pic. jann makes some good points - just remember that you can be in charge of a lot of stuff with a bridge camera like the p510. her point about changing lenses is valid, assuming you get the extra lenses. i can't carry a dslr with even one lens so if i got a dslr, i'd only use it around the house, and only for a pic or two at a time. everyone's needs are different so get what's best for you -- figuring that out is the hard part ... ;-)
Love the low lighting on this. Really makes the yellow stand out. Sorry to hear about the camera. Its truely amazing my camera hasn't spontaneously exploded from all the times I've dropped it, drenched it, submerged it...etc. Happy camera shopping. Can't wait to see what you get.
