I took this pictures seconds after I took a picture of a vole https://365project.org/susiemc/birds-and-other/2017-07-16 in exactly the same spot, where Chris had emptied out old seed from the bird feeders. Voles and mice can be quite similar but mice have much longer tails. It isn't possible on this picture to see the whole tail but I took another one which turned out very blurred but you could see that the tail was quite long. For this reason I think this is a mouse. Also, it's much smaller than the vole.
I'm not an expert but I find all the information fascinating. Sadly, given my cats, around my yard I'm usually trying to identify rodents from the remaking body parts! 😩
