Orange Tip (Male)

It's now the end of the orange tip season. This photo was taken last month at Brockhampton. It's been a good year for orange tips, I've seen more this year than ever before.
It has indeed been a good year for the boys, I've seen very few girls even allowing for the difficulty in positively identifying them. they have also been particularly flightly and reluctant to pose for photos.

@jesika2 There do seem to have been more boys than girls but I assume that’s because the boys are much easier to identify. Statistically there must be the same numbers of each. You’re right about them being difficult to photograph, they rarely settle.

@mave Thank you Mave. They are more difficult to photograph than many other butterflies because they hardly ever seem to settle. I’ve had more success this year but that’s simply because there have been a lot more around so more chance of one settling.
