Here in Cornwall, there is heated debate about whether Cornish pasties should be crimped along the top or along the side. I personally favour the side crimp myself, but will not turn down a good top crimped pasty if offered one.
Tales abound about the days when ancient pasty crimpers used to use their false teeth the make the perfect crimp.........
One thing is for certain though we all agree that you should never touch a pasty made in Devon....... I must have eaten thousands of pasties over my lifetime and the only one I didn't finish was the one I bought in Brixham. Foul, disgusting evil thing it was, full of unspeakable brown sludge and carrots...... I still have nightmares about it to this very day. :)
It's a shame to read about the Brixham pasty! Thankfully the other few thousands ;) will have made up for it. These happen to look fantastic, wherever the crimping is as Kitty says :)
