I thought this fish looked like he was whispering or maybe about to tell a story. Though it has had different owners, the Isaacson & Stein Fish Company (aka Fulton Street Fish Market) has been on the corner of Fulton and Halstead Streets just west of the Chicago Loop for about 80 years.
Amazing capture. Love either the reflection of eye below OR more fish? Either way, the narrative in the photo speaks volumes. Great dof and pov. Love the color--speaks to the urgency with which he speaks. :)
@darylo Thanks Daryl for the fav! I thought it was such a fun shot -- reflection is actually more fish -- they were a closeup from a stack about 15 fish wide and 10 fish high. I did a light vignette to get the focus more on the two of them.
I love the color and the 'life' in this photo. Great work! I find it harder sometimes to have close ups really say something, but not you. You caught this guy in mid sentence. He clearly has LOTS to say through your camera!
@mrsvanpatten Thank you! @steampowered Or perhaps letting him/her in on their fate? @jyokota You know me well! Nope, went with the tuna steaks that bore no resemblance to its original form. @ness50 Thank you Vanessa. The fish are quite beautiful there--and surprisingly expressive!
Great close-up! They do look like they're talking. I'm sorry but everytime I see a fish head it reminds me of the Barnes and Barnes song from the early 1980's.
Haha cool shot, those colors and those eyes are amazing! When I was four years old I was terrified of frozen fish. Something about those eyes used to scare me to death! No longer scared of them but seeing those eyes did make me cringe a bit. haha. Still I love the photo!

Thank you so much for your kind comments, and for seeing the humor in the shot along with the beauty of these fish. Chris -- I had to laugh as I also was scared of fish (it also started with a dead goldfish looking up at me one morning. Still cringe to think of it). I try to look at your photos every day as well, but will be pushing it between now and when I get back on Sunday. Thank you for your patience!
@anwan Time zone is getting to me but I have internet so am trying not to fall too far behind! It's nice to be warm and sunny. I have a 2 hour break and we're going to do a photo walk tomorrow afternoon!

It's also a good photo technically, with excellent detail and processing to keep the focus on the two conversationalists.
