Down the road a bit from the cabin I posted earlier this week ( http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-05-28) is a meadow owned by Morris and Sally Boyles. Because we are so far north, the lilacs are just starting to bloom. I love this meadow -- bordered in the back by an amazing set of gigantic lilac bushes, lovely grasses from there to the road, a few apple trees, and old rusted farm equipment placed strategically around the area. I processed to create the feeling of an impressionist painting because to me, that is the way it feels every time we drive by. It always feels like a happy place.
I love the processing and such a beautiful scene to start with. The lilacs are just lush!!! So pretty with the green grass and the rusting farm equipment. Love it very much. FAV
@havrotb Thanks Barbara! I'm enjoying sharing Beaver Island -- each day I think about (given the weather) what would make a good addition, so it's been really fun to have that focus.
@thirdjoe Thanks Joe -- I appreciate your comment as I'd taken some with and without the equipment. And, went with the 'with' so am glad you thought it worked.
@busylady I only wish I had the talent to paint this! One of my friends from down the beach, Ruth, asked me to send it to her and she may make a water color of it. I hope so!
good composition, tones, and colour.
I will attempt to do the challenge that you gave me. For your challenge, my favorite architect - Frank Lloyd Wright - has done a lot of buildings in and around Chicago. If at all possible, I would like a diptych showing one of his buildings and comparing it to one of his homes. If this doesn't work for you let me know and I will come up with something else.
@hjbenson I would love to do that challenge, but am currently (for the summer) living on an island in Lake Michigan, so it's impossible to do any city shots of any kind. The island is relatively undeveloped, with dirt roads, and about 60% is state forest. It does limit what I can do so I'm very disappointed that your challenge won't work for me til late August. But I'll keep it on my list and let you know when I do it then!
@taffy One more thought...I have some photos of Robie House from December that I've never used as it was before I was doing 365 (and had not learned nearly enough), but it might work for me to take those images and see what kind of diptych I could create from those. Sorry for all these messages -- trying to keep your hassle to a minimum, and stay with the 'must take this week' constraint of 365. If you think creating something but not from a current photo would work, I'm happy to give that a try.
@pflaume Thanks Lisa -- for this and the other images of mine you are commenting on tonite. I appreciate it! A painting was what I was going for - glad you liked it!
@taffy I will modify it so it can still be done, I would still like a diptych but of two different objects that support each other in some way but are not physically close.
Love the processing. It does have a painterly look to it. This screams Michigan farmland to me. The lilacs were gorgeous this year but some in our area were hit with a heavy frost 2 days ago. Perhaps the lake protected you from that?
@cathrinemitch@olivetreeann@roachling Thanks Louise, Ann, and Catherine. I do appreciate your comments and Ann and Catherine, the fav is really icing on the cake!
Thanks for the Fav Inge, Scott, Annie, Gena, and Carren! I'm so glad you liked the processing and image!
Great shot
