Barney's is one of five inland lakes on Beaver Island, one closest to where we live. It's a lovely area across from a nature preserve with, right now, amazing lilac bushes and apple trees in bloom. I took a photo yesterday with a bright blue sky and it was pretty -- almost too pretty. I liked the one today better with a storm about to approach. I converted it to b&w (wish it were Wednesday, but it's supposed to rain all day tomorrow) to bring out all the textures -- not as visible in color.
Thank you all for your wonderful comments and support of my Beaver Island images. Stones just appeared on PP and Boyle's Meadow was there over the weekend. I love sharing the island on 365 and so appreciate your positive response!
What beautiful scenery. I like your composition with the grasses in the foreground. The stormy sky and ripples are great elements. Perfect processing choice!
@steampowered Thanks Paul! I appreciate your time to comment! @jankoos THanks for the fav Jan! I am so glad for your support! @amrita21 Thanks Amrita! @gerry Thank you Gerry, for the support and the fav! @alia_801 Thanks Alia! @rachelwithey Thanks Rachel -- the clouds have been amazing the last few days (I guess in anticipation of today's totally solid gray!) @kazlamont Thanks Kazzy, as always, for viewing and commenting. @timandelke Thanks Elke! Have fun playing golf! @darylo Thanks -- this series is a big change up from my January - May ones. It's sort of fun to have to think about lighting, framing, etc so differently.
Thank you all for your comments! I appreciate your noting the textures and the b&w choice. It's always hard to know if that is the way to go --it's reinforcing to read your comments!
@northy@nicoleterheide@elaine55@lunaksi Thanks Luna, Elaine, Nicole, Northy -- I am loving getting more into monochrome, and feel I have so much to learn! A friend who also spend summers on the island and who only shoots b&w (film, not digital, and has a darkroom) is going to be here soon and I can't wait for some mentoring!
@wind_of_the_sothern_sea Thanks so much Arefin! I just noticed you've looked at a few of my images -- I do appreciate it so much, especially since I just love your photography! This morning I was taking a few shots of some flowers against a gray garage wall and was thinking to myself, "how would arefin frame and focus this?"
Thank you Jodi, Annie, Jayn, and Lisa! It's a lovely little spot -- I'm glad you liked the image.
