Columbine by taffy

Columbine

Real life has intruded into my Beaver Island idyll with a day of conference calls, then company, so I had very little time to do anything with 365 today. The only good thing is that the columbine are starting to bloom. Such complex flowers, structurally -- I think they are so interesting looking. They are among the handful whose names I know and that I recognize in others' gardens. Even in the harsh conditions here, I have 4 plants that are going to bloom this season. So what little time I had, I focused on getting a clear image of one of them. Then after our company left, I've played a bit with processing to try to make the structure 'pop' without losing a sense of their colors.
Thank you all for your wonderful comments and fav's over the past few days!
Very cool! The dark background looks so nice, and it does make the flower "pop". Very interesting shape to this flower!

Great choice in the level of darkness in the background...I like that it doesn't overwhelm the soft colours of your flower and stem.

@taffy I kinda agree with you. Their petals shape is so unique. Even when the petals has gone it still leaves a beautiful shape in their branches. I am very impressed by this flower.
