Two important updates from yesterday's post in extras of the waterfall ( http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-08-20). First, the diet is working. One syllabus is done and half the exercises for the semester ready to post; website is almost ready to launch; major project is submitted. A summer worth of work coming to fruition in a few days feels great, even if it meant to full days without being on 365 during the day (except, I admit, for two 'falling off the wagons' this afternoon). Lots more to go -- I was and am REALLY behind, but not bad! Second, the walk I took to get the waterfall caused me to miss the eagles on a rock off our beach. I caught a lot of teasing yesterday for my bad decision to take a walk when I did, but today -- aha!! Jim and I were both working on our computers on the deck that overlooks the lake when he thought he spotted an eagle. I went up to get my camera and by the time it came down, it was sitting on "the" rock. It saw me come down to take it's photo and took off but I followed and was rewarded with these three shots as he came in for a landing, then turned and stared at me. I wish I could have been closer, but it was still pretty exciting.
Thank you all for your kind words about my having to cut back on my time on 365 now that the semester is about to start. I really do appreciate your advice and empathy. I am still viewing as much as before, but just not posting comments on every photo. And I'm reading (and loving) each of your comments, but only writing a few personal notes here and there. Thank you for bearing with me!
Wonderful collage and all great shots! Wow to actually see an eagle - I think I would get so excited I wouldn't be Able to take a shot! I love the way he is looking at you! Well done on getting your work done!
Spectacular set!! Glad to hear your're OK in spite of a 365 diet :)
It's absolutely ok just to peak and watch and not to comment, as long as you're sharing spectacular scenes as this one with all of us :)
What an amazing capture in the collage! Fantastic. You are so busy and productive! I don't know how you find time at all for 365. I am retired and find it sometimes difficult...but a priority! Take care of yourself....we are always here and appreciate you so much!! Your inspiration is unending no matter what!!
Awesome collage with each moment captured really well! Perfect title too! Keeping everything balanced is tough but gotta give you your props for staying disciplined and taking care of your priorities. I wish you success on your 365 Diet :)
That is awesome! We have some areas here where they nest. One Sunday we were on our way to church and I saw a fellow pulled over with a mega-camera and I knew what he was shooting! There was a beautiful eagle perched in a tree just above the photographer. Oh boy was I mad we were late!! I'm so happy you got your eagle shot before it was time to leave. Good job on getting your work done!
@colie Colie, thanks for all the kind comments and visiting so many of my shots! I really appreciated it. It was good to catch up on yours too...you'd been gone awhile, it felt like.
How exciting to capture this! During my first year of 365 we saw two bald eagles fly over our car on our way home in the middle of the suburbs, and I was carrying my camera everywhere at the time. I was so fortunate to see them land and then get a quick shot of them. That is the only time we've ever seen eagles in our area.
