A long work day with little opportunity for a photo. So, I could post another hydrant shot, this one from today during the day (ho-hum), some street shots with no people (ho-hum), a weird abstract using some dishes we just bought to use on the roof deck (e.g., not breakable) (another ho-hum). So I turned to trying some processing using the Tiny Planets app, since most of my attempts have not worked well. I ended up learning that (A) a single strong image with blocks of color works better than images with a lot going on and (B) while birds create interesting and elegant shots, mammals of any kind become grotesque horrid looking things that would, in my opinion, have to be banned from the site, and (C), buildings are interesting but sunsets and beaches without a clear form aren't. This was one of my favorites. It's a seagull from Beaver Island days, but technically, there are a ton of the same ones here in Chicago near the Lake and even sometimes in our neighborhood. But at 96 degrees today, I wasn't going to go out looking for one!
In my challenges/extras album is another church image from the Gary, IN meetup on Saturday ( http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-09-10).
PS - I'm going to be in San Francisco on the weekend and while I've been there several times, it's always been for conferences, and I've not thought of it in terms of photo ops. If anyone has recommendations, I'd love to hear them! Didn't want to post in main discussion thread since I'll only have a short time there and the focus isn't on photography.
Very cool editing. It's been a while since I've been in SF, and I wasn't there to take photos, but I did notice a building near Ghirardelli Square that had interesting graffiti. Fisherman't wharf could also be a photo op. .
This is cool! I've never been to San Francisco, but I guess THE shot there is the bridge. And isn't there a street that's super crooked. That might be fun. And I guess Fisherman's Wharf? But again, I've never been there so a local might have better suggestions.
@olivetreeann Yep -- I just need to find someone who knows what time of day and from where to take the bridge photo! Even Jim has said he will come along. Wish me luck!
I visited San Fran in March. Took a walk through Chinatown, up to Coit Tower and then down to Fisherman's Wharf. We didn't go to the crooked street but you can sort of see it from Coit Tower. On a clear day you can get pics of the Golden Gate bridge from up there too. We took a cruise around the bay that took you under the bridge and around Alcatraz Island. I got some super pics of the bridge from there. There is a park on the city side (sorry I cannot remember what it's called) that also offers great views of the bridge. Here is a link to my bridge shot: http://365project.org/salza/365/2013-03-22 I hope you have a great time in San Fran
Taffy is it ok to post the pic of your back standing by the gantry looking at skyline? We see only your back from a distance? Sort of like one Junko posted of you? Can I say its you?
