I was so glad there's a new ETSOOI challenge as I'm really enjoying learning SnapArt processing tool. Taken following graduation ceremonies tonight, as we walked from the Pavilion across the street to where the reception for the grads was being held. It was fun taking my camera to the ceremonies as I've always felt like it would be inappropriate. But really, 2 and 1/2 hours sitting on a stage in black robes under hot lights...seemed reasonable to me to take photos from up there!
Wonderful patterns and abstract processing.
I am also playing with SnapArt and loving it. Did you buy the full package or are you using the trial? It seems really expensive?
@dibzgreasley I'm still using the trial. I've sent them an email asking about the educator's pricing because I do think it's a great processing tool, and as a faculty member, I might have access to the lower price version. It does seem pricey at almost $100.00! Especially since there are much less expensive iPad apps that do a lot of the same thing. The whole bundle doesn't seem that useful since I don't use PS and it looked like several of the other one processing tools require tools in PS that I wouldn't have.
Love the repeating patterns of the bikes. All these apps for processing are
so much fun to play around with! But there are only so many hours in the day!
Great processing Taffy. I just did something similar. I used Gimp, it's free, and I just kind of play around with the tools until I find what I like, or if I have something in mind like the levitation one I did on 4/20, I just Google what I want and find tutorials.
@sophiaz Hi Sophia -- I was one of the faculty (professors) -- I love graduation and seeing our students moving on to their new careers and lives, but it gets very hot in the robes, with the lights on the stage! But every year, it's such a treat to dress up in our robes and be a part of the ceremony.
@bill_fe I've heard Gimp is really useful. This summer, I'm planning on testing out Gimp, LR, and PS. In the meantime, I'm quite a sucker for fun processing tools. And do admit that this SnapArt one has wonderful options.
Your examples of SnapArt are such fun! When I told Ken about this, he asked if I'd moved on and was Photomatrix now passe! haha...not so much...just making a list because I like images like this that you posted...and maybe I want it all! (perhaps I can use the free trials over the summer...)
@Weezilou Thanks so much, Louise! I've found that I use these the most: picmonkey, nik silver efex, photomatix, snapart (new), nik color efex. Aperture is my base. I would probably be better off just learning PS! I can't believe a little over a year ago I couldn't use any of these and shot in jpg!
@taffy In that case, if I didn't say it before, you're my hero! You're certainly to be commended for mastering these applications and having artistic success that's unquestionable in this arena! I looked into nik silver & color when you mentioned then shortly after I came across your work, but they appeared to me to be quite challenging. I'll see if I can't ignore them for now... I'll continue to watch and learn from you over the summer and if I tackle something new, I hope it's good enough that you'll recognize how I came about it! Thanks for your suggestions and assistance!
