Driving between Beaver Island and Chicago, just outside Traverse City, Michigan, we came across an amazing field of sunflowers. And Jim actually stopped the car, told me to go photograph (but to hurry up, and then, as I started across the street, told me not to get hit by a car -- a sweetie!). As I took photos, he called various directions (e.g., did you get the tree? where are you going? what are you DOING? we need to get going!). All in fun, though...and you can see the full field in my overflow album - http://365project.org/taffy/special-photos/2014-08-23 . It was a great 5 minute stop, and this shot was my favorite -- the shy little sunflower. I thought about a six word story even as I was taking the photo of its drooping top leaves.
Ah, I seem to have heard that script somewhat closer to home somehow. Lovely framing and composition and a great humorous caption. I really admire your eye for imagery which is so evident in this shot, definitely not a run-of-the-mill field of sunflowers photo.
I love your beautiful shot, Taffy and your story about you and your husband. Sure sounds familiar. Would be fun to get the guys together and leave them somewhere while us gals go and take photos. I wanted to stop so many times yesterday but did not have battery life to use with my new camera. Did take photos with my Sony where we stopped but not where I wanted to stop. This sunflower looks like it is bowing. Love your six word title too. FAV
Your story cracked me up! I pass some sunflowers on my way home...they all just sag down like this. Do you know why? Other than that they are shy? haha
@espyetta I wondered about the sagging -- the entire field was like that, with just a few here and there standing straight. I thought it might have to do with the direction of the sun, and wondered if they move as the sun crosses the sky.
Such a sweet, tender six-word story. Love how it conveys the "personality" of this sunflower. I like the unique use the downward petals give this one--great capture!
