Today was the Picture Japan 2014 reunion get together at @jyokota Junko's house. We each were to have a maximum of 50 photos which we then shared with each other -- great fun to see similar scenes but from different perspectives and in different styles. I ended up with 163 photos, but only from the first 3 1/2 days (I did delete 113 from my slide show). But I still have half the trip to process -- I've now deleted almost 3X as many photos as I'd taken, just from the first half of the trip. And school starts tomorrow. So, I'm posting one of my favorite images from the first half of the trip, looking out the window of a fabric store in Kyotot, a photo I used in today's slide show...now must get some work done before tomorrow morning. No more photography for me today!
I'm glad you enjoyed my sunflowers from yesterday, and the power pylons image and appreciate your comments. I apologize for being behind in commenting in return and am optimistic things will settle down soon. Wishing everyone a good start to the work week and for those starting back to school or with kids about to head back, wishing you a great school year!
Simply gorgeous and such a wonderful "sense of place"! I came across this on the trending page, an I'm so glad I didn't miss it! How is it possible your summer is over already! The months seem to be picking up speed! We head to Chi Sat...then CA, but return in two weeks to stay until December. (You and I, with all the traeling, we haven't a prayer of ever catching up! Well, I doubt that I ever will...! Best to you as school gets underway!)
That's ok, I'm a little behind on commenting as well :) I love this shot too, the texture of the fabric looks fantastic and makes the scene behind it look almost processed. Fave.
I love the way we can see through the fabric for a glimpse of hat's beyond. Good luck back at work. I start next week, but I only work when I want to and where!
Really beautiful image Taffy, I was immediately drawn to it and was hoping it was "real" rather than an effect ... so I'm doubly impressed! Not that I have a problem with effects ... but to capture something like this in camera is really artistic!! Love the colours and textures ... well everything about it :)
Taffy, I have already expressed my appreciation for this shot: seeing the potential and capturing it so well. I honestly hope that it will get the recognition and merit that it rightly deserves! Fav (need I even say that!)
A great example of how the visual weight of objects we recognise draws the eye in, even when they are distorted, hence for me the impact of the right hand side of the image.
Lovely and original. Can almost feel the textures in this shot. And what a wonderful thing to have a friend to share your photos with. Sounds wonderful.
Gorgeous --used to design textiles for 3yrs & we manufactured 'em in Korea and Japan,so amazing to see how the design looks like in silk, rayon and cotton-(missed that job tho')-anyway,love the textures and patterns of this linen(?)-fav:)
This is such a cool shot. Love how you used this beautiful fabric to see through to the outside. I would have never thought of doing this. Sounds like a fun get together today. FAV
What an unusual shot! Love the textures and the way we are peeping through them to the world outside. Hope you enjoyed your picture reunion! Sounds like great fun!
