Didn't take a single photo today and must get some sleep, so this is another shot from yesterday's photo shoot at Belmont Harbor on the north side of Chicago, just off Lake Michigan. The city is just out of view on the left. Processed to emphasize the sky that to me, looked like smoke. Sort of a precursor to the 'sky on fire' shot posted last night, this one taken about 20 minutes or so earlier as the sun was setting. Thank you all for your wonderful response to that shot -- I so appreciate it, along with your views, comments, and favs that put two of my Chicago architecture shots on TT this week. I can't thank you enough -- happy thoughts to see me through this busy work weekend ahead! Wishing all a good weekend and looking forward to catching up Sunday night or Monday.
PS No need to comment as I can't return the favor for a few days.
Your processing works well with this sort of shot which I recognise! Not good with portraits though as I've found. You have to have the good definition to start with though for this sort of processing!
I don't mind if you can't comment. I just want to say that this sky is so dramatic. I wish we'd visited Chicago when we went to the USA, but no family live there ant more. My cousin moved out to Pickerington Ohio and her children and grandkids live there. She returned to the States In the 50s, after after her family moved back to Ulster following her dad's death in Chicago where they lived. She married her American sweetheart!
Oh gosh Taffy this is really surreal. Haven't got time to read your description as I am just off to bed as I have an early start and should have been in bed a couple of hours ago. I will be back to view tomorrow. Thanks so much for your kind words Taffy.
Very dramatic and beautiful shot... I like the textures in the clouds very much. Don't worry about the commenting thing - I don't do it so that you will do it back. :) Just don't worry about it... get some sleep.
Viewing this against a black background makes this image look even better. So much to like, that smoky sky, the ghostly boats, the reflection in the water, the sheer quality of the image.
Taffy..I am just continually amazed by your photography skills and processing! Another totally amazing shot. Just breathtaking in every way. FAV FAV FAV
Wonderful composition and wonderful processing as well. You're right the clouds when processed do resemble smoke. On the whole I think it's a very dramatic scene and I love that touch of pink in the sky and under some of the clouds. Fav!
Bingo! Wonderfully moody and dark with just those few bits of colour to leaven the dark. Stunning processing Taffy, definite fav for me. Your TT placings are richly deserved, they were outstanding images.
Wow what a fantastic image with dark broody atmosphere. Superb processing as usual Taffy! Just catching up after a few days where I couldn't see the computer screen! Congrats on your double TT! You just go from strength to strength! Have good weekend - don't worry about commenting! Fav!
this will more than do!! Its a little Gotham city!!!
