Respite during a very busy weekend. I took some of our visiting colleagues for a walk along one of my favorite areas of the city. The day was spectacular -- blue skies, warm sun, clear air, a perfect afternoon. I've appreciated your comments on the photos posted this weekend. Here's hoping all have a good start to the week!
Eric mentioned a b&w that I had done of this area -- it has a fairly different tone, and I couldn't find it last night. Here it is (from May of our unending winter of 2014): http://365project.org/taffy/365/2014-05-05
And here's one taken one level up, standing almost in the same spot a year earlier, but on the upper walkway, and with a zoom lens http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-05-12
What a beautiful shot, Taffy. I absolutely love your processing. Every detail of this photo is amazing. I got to photograph inside a Greek Orthodox church today and thought of you and tried my best to do my best. Left it the way I took it. FAV for your photo. Have a wonderful week.
I like the sweeping path with the figures on, leading through to the buildings at the back. I like that it all tones of blue mostly. It has a calm peaceful feel. Sounds like how you describe the walk. Great one Taffy.
I remember this walkway from previous posts...in B&W, I think. This is beautiful with all the different blue hues and the sweeping path leading to the city.
@ericdibosco I'm so glad you remembered this and made this comment, Eric. I thought I'd posted a b&w and wanted to link to it, and couldn't find it anywhere. I thought I was really off in memory so you've given me a great sense of relief, and motivation to keep looking!
Looks like a lovely place to walk and capture some beautiful photographs as well. I know you say it was one of this picture is telling me that it was a little cool. Fav
@ericdibosco I found it! See commentary above -- the link is there for both the shots that I've done from this area. It was interesting to go back and look at these to see how different the same spot can look across time (and ability, too, I suspect).
This is beautiful... when I saw it on the TP, I recognized it because I had recalled you b&w shot from earlier (thanks for the link) which I admired at the time. What a great place to walk and photograph! I really like the way all the lines curve left and converge - and all the blue! :)
Perfect composition, love the curving path and sloping wall against the Chicago skyline. ...I remember that place, we went shooting there!
PS Eric @ericdibosco is really unique: he remembers photos and notices details with such a sharp eye!!!
Beautifully composed - you have found the perfect spot! Love the way that curved path leads you to those skyscrapers. The gorgeous blue of the water and the skies is the perfect tone for this.
ANother amazing capture. Wonderful pov and love the line of the walkway...is the water always that close to the walkway and wall? How lovely to see the cityscape in the background. fav
@eyesmile Thanks Gena! Yes, the water is always right up to the edge there. It changes in depth a bit, but not in where it is. It would be so fun for you to come to Chicago someday for a photo walk!!
