My time in Queensland has come to an end and I leave in the morning for Adelaide. Taken in Kuranda bird preserve. These are pied heron, based on the bird guide.

@shepherdmanswife Thanks Chantal! It's a combination -- working with a teaching staff, giving some talks, doing some photo meetups with 365ers, and staying with a friend whose moved to Adelaide -- that's where I'm headed tomorrow. It's really been a wonderful trip so far.
@taffy wow, what an opportunity to go there. We only went because my son moved out to Melbourne with his job for 3 years with his wife and our two young grand daughters, so we made the most of it. Wonderful country. Hope to go back one day, but want to go back to Canada first as so many things we didn't have time to do like go to Vancouver Island and see Vancouver city.
@taffy Yeah I got it :) I'm sure @888rachel and @stuckinoz will too. We have had many a laugh about it! Pity, I will wave to you as we pass each other in the air! :)
Ohh cool. Love seeing birds I Will never get to see in real life. As I think about it now I think I would love to go to Australia to photograph birds and other wildlife. Perhaps I will put that on my to do list for my next life.
The elegant features of this bird stand out so nicely against the darkness of the background. Such a color-cooridnated creature, with his beak and legs in matching tones. Safe travels are wished for you.
I haven't had a minutes time to catch up on here, but I saw this one and it's one of my very favorite bird photos I have ever seen. Just stunning with detail, the blue is so deep. and the expression is expertly captured. I have no idea what you are up to--will look at it all when I come up for air, which will not be soon, but I had to comment and fav and tell you it takes my breath away. :)
