Chicago Open House meant we could go to the 71st floor of the Aon building with 360 degree views of the city. It was a beautiful, clear day. This needs to be viewed large to see all the details, but to orient, you can see Columbus Avenue to the right of center and Michigan Avenue to the left of center, with the iconic Tribune and Wrigley buildings in the lower left straddling Michigan Avenue. Hancock Building is standing above the others in the distance. And of course, that's Lake Michigan to the right.
From my photo walk with Bill Fenske @bill_fe on Saturday.
Thanks for your funny comments on the dogs in the carriage! I've enjoyed the thread.
I just can't wait to see this fabulous view! I hope we are able to get up high like this. Such a clear detailed image Taffy! Love the city and the Lake together! Fav!
@pamknowler So, imagine being at the top of the Hancock building (the black one with the X's on it) looking over the city from that direction south. That's where I think an early late afternoon into evening spot should be!
@taffy@pamknowler Stop it you two, you're making me drool. Taffy, love the shot, it gives me a good idea of what (part of?) Chicago looks like. Very informative.
Think I need to visit during the open house next year. Does it happen the same weekend each year? Guess I can goggle it and see if there's any information.
@taffy Hi Taffy! Your work is incredible! Amanda told me you live in Chicago. I will be there one day only on Thursday. I'm traveling with my hubby and he has work to do that day. So I have the whole day to take photos and explore. Any chance you'd like to do a meet up? Please let me know. megokmills@gmail.com Thanks, Meg
@lesip So far it's been the weekend after Columbus Day for the past 2 years. Just google Chicago Architectural Foundation Open House, or CAF Open House, or Chicago Open House and it will take you to the site. It would be fun to have a meetup here next year!
Some day, I will be here for the Open House! Your image is so clear I think I can see my house (well, the water tower next to it) and the Bahai Temple!
@lesip@jyokota@panthora So far, there are a core of us interested in shooting CAF Open House next year, if we can make the arrangements work to be here!
