I very rarely take photos of birds -- little opportunity and even less skill. But while walking down Michigan Avenue of all places, I heard a cacophony of sound coming from a nearby tree, and with my 28-300 mm lens, it really would be almost impossible for me not to get a shot of one of the birds! Given that this one is clear, has that white dot on its eye, and was actually looking at me, I couldn't pass up posting.
Tomorrow we head to Portland, Oregon for a family Thanksgiving get-together and I'm very excited. Not fun flying on the worst travel day of the year in the US, but staying optimistic for now. I'll be intermittent on 365 until early December, but plan to post and comment when Internet and time permit. Apologies in advance for only miscellaneous commenting until I return! Have a good holiday everyone (celebrating in the US) and a good week to all. And last but not least, thanks for sending my moon shot to PP today!
FAV -- if you're going to have a bird photo, this one is a good one with the focus, the colors, the background, the ironwork, etc. Safe travels -- and see you in CA!
Lovely capture Taffy! Great dof which isolates him beautifully! Definitely got his eye on you! Not sure about the ID though as it looks like a house sparrow to me and not a wren. Mind you our UK robin's are different to yours so perhaps it's a US wren? It's a Fav - you can take birds! Lol!
Sweet shot.. These little guys are very common around here and as I am typing can here them chirping away.. just noticed that you are shooting with the same camera and lens as me..
Excellent bird shot. Love it. Such a sweet little bird. Am so envious of your expertise in so many different areas of photography. Seems there's no area you don't excel at! So well done, and so inspirational.
Nicely done for a beginner! I wish you a happy Thanksgiving and look forward to seeing the moon and church again when it appears on the TT at the weekend ;-))
@vignouse I don't know...last time I had more views and favs for the blue rolling mountains of TN than the #1 choice (which happened to be posted the same day as mine as well, so viewing would have started at the same point) and didn't even end up on the list! So, magic monkeys are rather unpredictable. But I very much appreciate your sentiment.
@taffy I think TT shots normally need to be taken and posted on the day for which they are intended so maybe that was the difference. TT requires far more Favs than I normally get so I don't worry about it too much... but I do like to see meritorious images featured there.
Lovely shot Taffy - Fav Have a good time with your family and don't worry about not being able to comment etc. as I think we all have problems keeping up even when we are not away!
@vignouse That must be it, then! It wasn't like that in the past, but it's been ages since I posted an out-of-week photo that would be in TT, so I wouldn't have noticed.
Have a great Thanksgiving, safe travels!
