Under the Bridge at Sunset by taffy

Under the Bridge at Sunset

Taken along the Chicago River on a photowalk with a friend of a 365 friend -- it was a really beautiful day and unusually warm for November. I took several shots of the reflector under the bridge, with and without people and processed in color and b&w. Posting the two that to me were the most interesting.
Had a remarkably smooth trip to Portland and happily settling into our AirB&B that has great Internet. Family fun starts in the morning!
Thank you all for the wonderful response to my two bird photos -- they both ended up on PP, much to my surprise, which is very motivating for trying something less familiar.

This is so cool!

Great shot and I love the reflections. The colour gives more warmth to this shot, but I think I prefer the b&w, that one has more drama.
November 26th, 2015
I like the warm colours of this one but I think the b&w one steals it because of the composition and people.

Lovely lines and gorgeous colour tones - very appealing !

Wonderful. Love the colours and reflections.
November 26th, 2015
lovely play of reflections on the "roof"
November 26th, 2015
The lighting is great, love the reflections on the reflector :)
November 26th, 2015
Love it in colour too, but think I prefer the b&w version with 'human interest'. Seems to give it scale.
November 26th, 2015
Wonderful capture and those reflections are amazing. Fav.
November 26th, 2015
This is spectacular but the B&W had a greater impact.
November 26th, 2015
I agree the mono version is better - or rather "even better."
November 26th, 2015
such an interesting bridge, love the reflections

Love the lines and shapes
November 26th, 2015
This is interesting in color but the B+W version makes a more graphic image.
November 26th, 2015
Excellent shot with great lines and shapes.
November 26th, 2015
It looks like a great place to go and photograph! Loads of different options to shoot.

@jgpittenger Thanks Jane -- and with the time zone difference, it's even better. I slept til 10 and it was only 8:00!!

What an interesting shot. I've never seen a reflector on a bridge before, love how it "wobbles"the river and railings
November 26th, 2015
A wonderful city shot - lots of glitz and angles.
November 26th, 2015
Great processing, a super capture. Fav!! 😃
November 26th, 2015
Overall I prefer the colour version, as them image relies on colour rather than shapes and tonal range to make it work. The mono scores because it has the people in it to provide a focal point.
November 26th, 2015
Terrific reflections and framing!
November 26th, 2015
Both versions are terrific...it is hard to pick one over the other.
November 26th, 2015
Great lines and depth in this image, lovely shot
November 26th, 2015
Fabulous shot ..... lovely pov too :)
November 26th, 2015
Super shot, love the shiny underside of that bridge and the subtle tones.
November 26th, 2015
Great place for a photo with the light reflecting off the underside of the bridge. I prefer the warmth and tones of the colour version but like the people in the B&W version.
November 26th, 2015
Yes really lovely muted colours here
November 26th, 2015
Lots of shiny surfaces.
November 26th, 2015
this is cool; I really love the b&w version.

@pamknowler This is an area we will walk for sure.
November 27th, 2015
More lines to die for - and reflections - and great use of them.
November 27th, 2015
It's good to see this in color because now the reflectors make sense to me. Both are good shots- but I think I like the color better just for clarity.

Incredible picture and perspective. Congratulations on making the Trending Page and the PP. Well deserved.
