On our way back to catch our flight, we drove a scenic route from Borrego Springs to San Diego. At the peak of the pass, we stopped at a trail head and did a small hike overlooking the range of mountains as the sun was starting to climb. We had the area to ourselves and it was quite humbling. Such a beautiful part of the country!

@joansmor Wow - you have a great memory! Yes, I thought the same when I saw it, and the two areas couldn't be more different. Smokies, wet and rainy; desert arid and dry.
