The music hall in Reykjavik is an exceptional structure. After photographing landscapes, it was fun to have the day in the 'city' and do a little with architecture. Junko and I were standing in the same spot while taking these (we had teeny windows with no rain) but taken an hour apart. Here's the link to Junko's: https://365project.org/jyokota/365/2017-03-23
What an exciting example of modern architecture, a simply fabulous building to take advantage of ambient light when it's available. I assume it's a sort of play on the look of ice.
@golftragic I hadn't thought about the connection to ice until I read your comment, but think you are right on target. It's an icy feel, very stark, and the sparkles that come from the few panes of different colored glass look like it could be light reflecting. It was such an amazing building -- hard to figure out how to photograph it well.
@taffy I could see from the photos from both you and Junko @jyokota that it would be a difficult building to do justice to in a photograph. IMHO you both did a darned good job. Did you try any HDR there?
It seems like he might have jazzed his up in photo editing. Yours has a slightly more monochromatic feel is likely truer to the situation as you described your weather challenges.
@mbrutus Thanks for your kind comment about my shot. The main difference, we realized later, was an hour's difference in timing. When Junko took her shot, the sun had come out and when it did, the glass on the exterior dazzled. We kept thinking it was the difference between Nikon and Canon and couldn't figure out why the color would be so off. Then, we realized I had shot it as we walked in, and Junko as we walked away.
