To be in France with my camera and NOT on a photo trip (as promised) is quite strange. I'm surrounded by amazing photo ops, gorgeous landscapes, beautiful vineyards, incredible architecture, and I can't stop to photograph any of it. I carried my camera as we walked from our hotel to our friends' house for dinner, and photographed this half-and-half. I was drawn to the blue doors -- a very common color here -- and to the textures from the peeling stone walls (also fairly typical). In a way, this is a typical scene in southern France -- just not the one I'd most like to be taking!
Thanks for your lovely comments on posts from yesterday -- it is a truly relaxing environment, and so beautiful everywhere! And yes, the wines are great and so reasonably priced! Fun to sample such a range.
A lovely halfandhalf! It's hard to just enjoy the moment and not photograph it, you are stronger than I am if you can walk through the streets of Provence and keep your camera by your side. It's such a wonderful city.
I know what you mean. When I went to France, I did phone days and camera days. It was not a photo trip but I got just enough to satisfy my itch. Keep having fun!
Cool shot with great colors and textures. That would be so hard not to take photos when you see wonderful opportunities. You are a strong person, Taffy.
Take the non-photo aspect of your trip to hone your skills on looking for THE shot of the day rather than relying on the ability of reviewing everything at the end of the day and then choosing something. It's hard, but a good challenge for you! Had to laugh though- this IS the kind of shot I would take!!
Wonderful half and half. Love the textures. Some pictures we see but don't take, I relate to it. Its as if pictures are being composed constantly... everything has its own space. Enjoy your holiday.
Lovely textures Taffy - well spotted!! It will do you good to have a break from your photography and relax and enjoy the surroundings and people without looking through the lens all the time. Sometimes it's good to leave the camera behind and enjoy the whole experience rather than have our noses up to the camera all the time. Sometimes I think we miss what's going on all around us. You will be refreshed and ready to take up the camera properly very soon!! Fav!
Love the mix of textures in this shot! The blue doors of Provence served as inspiration for a master bath I designed last year for a couple who had vacationed in France and wanted to create that feeling in their home. We used handprinted tiles and that beautiful blue on the walls.
