@beryl LOL! Yes, it's very real! We are so fortunate to be on the west side of the island to see the huge orb set each night (when clouds don't cover it). It was a pretty scene overall, but I decided that with such few clouds, I would be best off with the superzoom to focus on the part of the sky that was showing off. I took it off what we call the 'lower deck' as it is the part of the deck closest to the beach with no trees obstructing the sun which allowed me to sit in a chair and use my knees as a tripod for Live View focusing.
@maggiemae LOL - thanks! Yes, I do try to make clear when I create something out of my imagination versus an actual photograph processed in LR (my most common 'go to' when shooting in RAW).
@golftragic We're hanging in there. Thus far the island has stayed relatively safe re Covid, and certainly re crime, so I'm very much enjoying the summer! Not too excited about getting back to the city this fall, though. Hope you are doing okay -- I miss your posts!
@pusspup Sometimes good things happen from being a little lazy. My telephoto was on the camera from trying to photograph birds. The whole sky was red but only the smaller section had the clouds of interest. So it all worked out well. I took about 15 images as I wasn't sure about settings to keep the sun from being blown out while still having sufficient light on the island and clouds. Thanks as always for your comment!
