Another 4 to 6 inches of snow last night causing 2 to 3 hour commutes. By the time I was going downtown for a meeting (about 3:30), the city had cleared the streets leaving piles of snow, snow melt, and slush. In my extras album is the prettier side of snow in the city. This one is done in the style for bw-bookclub that emphasizes bw as normality -- documenting the everyday. In this shot, I used higher contrasts to bring out the shadows and the sheen of the melting snow. The Art Institute can be seen in the background, across Michigan Avenue, one of our main streets. Just beyond the Art Institute (to the left) is park land and then Lake Michigan.

Now where did my comment go? This is a much grittier scene - perfect processing! This is the side of snow that I really don't like - the slushy aftermath! Great capture!
I really like the strong contrast here! You seam to have had quite a bit of snow lately, we on the other hand have had unusually little snow this winter
I like the black and white. Definitely a shot characteristic of winter in downtown Chicago- wet and cold, and also how you captured the people- One looking in a hurry, and the other looking very cold
