I'm somewhat behind in uploads from the past week so am trying to space them out. This was from the zoo meetup last weekend. The wolves at Brookfield Zoo are in a very large and open enclosure and are treated as wild animals. In this case, some ribs had been tossed in for their lunch and the female wolves in the pack simply fight it out. They each got their own food, but apparently this is pretty normal activity. It was fascinating to watch. Clearly, no sense of fairness and sharing -- and one of the wolves seemed to be crying or whining as she watched the alpha chowing down.
The lions, on the other hand, acted quite in love -- http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2014-02-09
This is absolutely "best viewed Large" to see the snarly expression, the anguished fighting and the satisfied tongue lick . . .
Fabulous series captured!
