From last week's 'field trip' to the Newberry Library. Taken of the outside window, three bracketed shots combined in Photomatix and then converted and processed in b&w using Silver Efex.
Oh, this is beautiful and crisp and sharp. I can understand your composition completely the way you did it, getting in the well placed bottom rings of the pillars, which unfortunately have cut out the top of the arch with all it's lovely detail (and you were probably at your widest zoon already). I can't help but wonder about an alternative composition, starting just below the window and getting more of the arch in the frame...
@ericdibosco you are so right. I'm already planning a return trip to do just that angle. I need an even wider lens to get it all or just back up to the street and let don trees in the shot.
Wow, what a beauty Taffy. Such strong lines in those pillars and arches. Bracketing worked a treat here. The branches in those reflections further strengthen the lines in the stonework.
I have to try this bracketing again. Not possible with birds. Going to the mountains this weekend if weather cooperates. Not holding my breath. But your architecture is wonderful and are getting wonderful detail. I love noticing things like this.
