Okay...promise, last shot of the Blackhawks and the Stanley Cup. It's hard not to be into this living here, with the parade literally going right below our balcony. With Jim's support (he stayed out there with me), I watched the parade -- probably 10 minutes -- on the balcony taking photos of the team and the cup as it went by. And on the TV we could hear all the interviews. And the highway which is below us as well had truck after truck and car after car tooting their horns as they went under the parade. If you look closely at the rear of the bus, you can see one of the players holding the cup in the left corner of the last row. They meandered through the city -- about 30 buses of team, support staff, trainers, and family -- and ended up at Soldier Field for the rally. Good for Chicago's spirits and our economy!
@maggiemae THanks Maggie -- not only did they win, they did so on home ice for the first time in over 70 years. The city has gone nuts. But it's fun. They really are a special team here -- lots of community service, humble, and a great owner who cares about people. So it really is nice to see.
I really like this one ... I love the red frame of people, how the gray sets the bus apart, the blur effect and the focal point. Basically ... all of it.
Excellent effects, how the blur and zoom focuses directly on the prize. Lots of energy and movement... suitable for a triumphant team. :) Balcony shot, too... brave!
@joansmor Haha! No shaking in this one, but the trophy was so hard to see with all that was going on I was trying to come up with a solution that would make it easy to find in the image.
Love this Taffy! You can feel the buzz of excitement from the huge crowd from your processing. Well done on looking down while on the balcony! Very brave!
Awesome POV! This was the first year I did not get a great shot of Lord Stanley, ironically the best shot I got was in 2010 with my little canon p&s which feeds into the saying of the best camera you have is the one you have on you. The crowds this year were insane, definitely more than in 2013! In the past years my husband has come to the parade with me, but this year he did not, he hates crowds so as he was not with me I headed off into the the thick of them and soaked up the atmosphere.
Photographing it all in this fashion certainly depicts your level of enthusiasm! Knowing how excited you were, I'm glad you had the opportunity to get some amazing photos from an excellent vantage point!
@pixiemac Queasy is what I usually feel on the balcony, but this time I just wanted to have clear shots so sucked it up and it worked. But this is what it FEELS like out there!
