Junko was distraught that our trip was coming to an end...Daryl's foot can be seen to the right as she casually looks upward with her camera. We all react in different ways to seeing a great time together come to a close...A conductor standing near by was very helpful -- asking if we'd like to tie Junko to the tracks to make it look more realistic. And Junko was a great sport when Daryl and I had her do it a second time so we could retake at a better angle before the train actually started moving!
Photo was taken at Dollywood, our second to last night of the trip...great fun there for photographers and other kids of all ages.

Fond memories as I sit in my study back in Chicago and go over our hundreds of photos. What a wonderful time we had -- look forward to a repeat.
A fun shot, if taken under carefully controlled conditions, but sadly there have been numerous complaints to and by British Rail about the increasing number of similar scenes caught on CCTV and causing real concern.
I got heck from everyone for taking a picture on an empty track. LOL Great fun. I was so tired when my trip was over (9 days on the road and one morning flying home) that I can't say I felt like this. I just wanted to sit in my comfy chair. Can't wait to see the other shots as I work my way up the feed.
@wordpixman This was taken in a theme park. Ine of the conductors offered to have ger tied up to make if look more authentic. :) But yes, sad that folks do not heed safety first.
@darylo Yeah, I agree!! Some people just have no feelings at all! Callous! Still having a great time with our photos -- and each one brings a new memory back. @jgpittenger@jyokota and Jane would be interested in doing a 'repeat' with us next year.
@elaine55 I agreed, so I volunteered to be the photographer (and Junko @jyokota is more nimble than I am!). The "conductor" had a huge laugh with us as we were fiddling to get the right perspective.
@wordpixman I know! And we've been giving our photo friends a very hard time when they post 'real' train track photos. In this one, there was no danger at all (other than Junko @jyokota) getting some grease on her hands -- icky!) as the ones controlling the situation were helping us set things up safely -- and were quick to move us off when it was time for the train to really leave. It wasn't moving at this point and keeps to a tight schedule.
@jyokota@darylo -- Am laughing hysterically at your comment, Junko!!! Notice they read on to realize that you weren't going to be killed for this shot -- I think that freed them to fav it. I truly think if you were about to be mowed down by a train, they's post :-( faces instead (and then acknowledge it was an interesting scene!). Hope folks get that I'm joking here!
@jyokota Do you men to photograph you in the hospital, or a regular visit with no strings attached? Of course I'd visit you and I'd know NOT to bring flowers!
This is hysterical!! Big FAV for making it look so realistic!! Being tied to the tracks would have made it even better!! ;-))) @jyokota Don't feel bad, Junko....I told my husband that if the last picture I ever take is on the safari of a lion attacking me ready to plunge his fangs in my face, then he should make sure it gets published!!
@panthora@jyokota
Haha!! And of course if he published it here, we'd all write of how much you'll be missed, but we'd fav your photo! It would make it to the top of TT for sure -- but DON'T DO IT!!!!!
@bill_fe -- glad to entertain you. I look completely uncomfortable with my backpack on and arching over it but then, when there's a train coming (theoretically), who cares about comfort???
@amandal Haha! No, not in the least bit dangerous. There were two staff members who were responsible for when the gate goes down when the train actually starts. It was sitting in the station with the smoke coming out but there was significant time before it was going to depart. They were part of the joking around getting Junko to lie down on the tracks (e.g., should we tie her to them for more authenticity?). Very safe. When it got close to the time when the train would start moving, they had us move out of the way, put gates down and each side, and told us where we could stand to take a photo of the moving train.
Ahh, good. I love shots on tracks and often thought to do one and then I read about a story about how many photographers have been killed on them getting that last shot. Scared me straight. Glad you all were safe. Gotta keep your photo buddy alive. Yesterday Meg shot me in a huge pile of leaves but then someone reminded me of kids getting killed playing in leaves in the street.

Don't worry and end with your life for that. I'm sure you'll catch more adventures.
What a fun shot!
